The Lakes College in Brisbane’s North is thrilled to announce the completion and opening of not one, but three new playgrounds.

Each has been carefully designed to support the unique developmental needs of its Prep to Year 6 students.

These inspiring outdoor spaces are not only places for fun – they are hubs for creativity, confidence and connection.

Prep Playground: Imagination Sets Sail

For our youngest learners, the new Prep Playground is a magical world of discovery and delight. At the heart of the space is a giant timber boat, perfect for imaginative adventures on the high seas. Activity panels encourage interactive learning, while a dedicated performance stage provides the perfect platform for budding performers to shine.

Little explorers can weave their way through the bike track, peek into hideaway boxes, bounce on the trampoline, or follow the gentle flow of the dry river bed. This beautifully designed environment supports sensory development, creativity and social connection, laying a strong foundation for lifelong learning.

Years 1–3 Playground: Wonder, Movement and Natural Play

The new Year 1 to 3 Playground is a dynamic and nature-inspired space built for movement, exploration and fun. Featuring an exciting parkour course, towering slides and toadstool seating, the playground invites children to challenge themselves physically in a safe and supportive environment.

A highlight of this playground is the centrepiece fig tree, providing natural shade and a sense of calm among the action. The continued theme of a dry river bed weaves through the space, fostering a connection to nature and open-ended play.

Years 4–6 Playground: Adventure Meets Challenge

For our Upper Primary students, the new Year 4 to 6 Playground delivers the ultimate in active play. Designed to challenge and inspire, this state-of-the-art adventure zone features an advanced Parkour Ninja Warrior course with a soft fall undersurface for safe landings.

Students can build confidence and resilience while tackling obstacles like the Cargo Climb, A-Frame Climb, Hand Grips Course, Balance Cables and a Warped Wall with a thrilling 2.5m platform.

This exciting new area promotes physical fitness, courage and coordination, all while having a great time with friends.

These three innovative playgrounds are a powerful reflection of The Lakes College’s commitment to nurturing the whole child. By creating safe, engaging and age-appropriate play environments, we are supporting student wellbeing, social development and a lifelong love of learning.
