Each year, the Old Boys’ Association, in conjunction with St Laurence’s College, provides a wide array of events and activities for past students. Old Boys are able to reminisce about their time at school and reconnect with old friends.
On 24 August 2024, St Laurence’s College welcomed more than 230 Old Boys from the Class of 1974, 1984, 1994, 2004 and 2014 back to the College.
“These Old Boys were given tours from our current Year 11 and 12 students, giving them a chance to see the great changes that have occurred on campus since they left the College. After these tours, our Old Boys were able to celebrate their respective reunions on and off site. It was great to see so many Old Boys reconnecting and reminiscing on their time at the College,” the College said.
“The following day commenced with our Old Boys’ Memorial Mass where we were able to reflect on the lives of Old Boys and members of the community who we have lost. It was a powerful occasion where the Lauries community came together in full voice. Following the beautiful Mass was our Senior Old Boys’ Luncheon. It was a privilege to welcome our most senior gentlemen back to the College.”
The Old Boys’ Weekend culminated on Tuesday 27 August with an Old Boys’ Assembly where the College was able to acknowledge Old Boys who have reached great heights and achieved considerable feats.
“The Assembly was also joined by gentlemen from the Class of 1964 celebrating their 60 year reunion and the Class of 1954 commemorating their 70 year reunion. During this assembly, we were able to induct three Old Boys into the Hall of Fame – Geoffrey Dickie, Peter O’Meara and Michael Wagels, and recognise three Old Boys as the inaugural recipients of the Young Alumni Award – Rowan Crothers, Samuel Piper and Calvin Xu. We congratulate these men on their remarkable achievements,” the College said.
“Thank you to all guests, volunteers, students and staff who make this weekend possible.”
