Mount Alvernia College proudly stands as the only Franciscan girls’ school in Queensland, offering a values-based education where every student is known, supported, and empowered to thrive.
Rooted in the rich tradition of Saint Francis of Assisi, our community fosters a deep sense of belonging, where students are known by a name and not a number.
Excellence continues to define Mount Alvernia College, driven by the expertise and passion of our dedicated educators. In 2025, Mount Alvernia College proudly celebrates its outstanding academic success, with the record-breaking results of 2024 placing the College among Queensland’s top 10 secondary schools. These results reflect the dedication of our exceptional educators, who prioritise and acknowledge the powerful link between student wellbeing and meaningful learning outcomes. In an increasingly complex and fast-paced world, this balanced approach to education is more vital than ever, ensuring students are not only achieving academically but are also prepared to navigate the challenges of modern life with confidence and resilience. Our educators demonstrate an unbridled commitment to shaping audacious, aspiring and authentic young people who are well-equipped to be critical thinkers.
As our academic excellence continues to thrive, so too does our vision for the future. We are currently in the master planning phase for a state-of-the-art new building on campus. This will be an innovative and purposefully designed space set to transform the learning experience. The facility will include a modern library, adaptable general learning areas, specialised senior student zones, and a custom-built lecture theatre. These future-focused additions will further enrich the way students learn, collaborate, and connect within our College community.
In 2026, Mount Alvernia College will proudly celebrate its 70th anniversary marking a significant milestone in the life of the College. This anniversary offers a meaningful opportunity to reflect on the journey from humble beginnings as a small school in Brisbane’s northern suburbs in the 1950s, to the vibrant, future-focused community it is today. As part of the celebrations, the College is actively reconnecting with alumni who are making their mark in diverse fields such as healthcare, education, law, business, creative industries, and community service. Our alumni continue to embody the values instilled during their time at Mount Alvernia College, making meaningful contributions and leaving their mark across a wide range of careers.
We warmly invite prospective families to join us in discovering how Mount Alvernia College continues to nurture audacious, aspiring, and authentic young women who are prepared to lead with integrity and purpose in an ever-changing world.
