Hillcrest Christian College is redefining education with a suite of innovative programs that support every learner to thrive.

Through The RISE Program, Secret Skills, Lumos and Flare classes in Middle Learning and more, the College is equipping students with future-ready skills grounded in timeless Christian values.

At Hillcrest, education goes beyond academics. The College’s vision is to inspire young people to rise in their potential, shine with purpose, and serve with compassion. This vision is brought to life through engaging programs designed to foster critical thinking, creativity, and personal growth.

The RISE Program, offered in Year 9, invites students into a future-focused learning journey. The program involves students working on inquiry-based projects connected to real-world challenges. Students explore big ideas, create solutions, and reflect on how their learning can impact their communities. RISE develops agency, curiosity, and resilience in students as they learn how to make a difference.

Secret Skills is a unique Hillcrest initiative that nurtures essential capabilities often overlooked in traditional education. These include self-management, collaboration, communication, creativity, and reflective thinking. These “invisible” skills are explicitly taught and embedded across the curriculum, preparing students not only for academic success but for life beyond the classroom.

Lumos and Flare are specialised classes for students with specific gifts and passions in the Middle Learning Community.

  • Lumos supports academically advanced learners, offering enriched, deep-thinking opportunities and extension beyond year level expectations.
  • Flare celebrates students with creative and artistic talent, giving them space to flourish in areas such as visual art, music, performance, and digital media.

These classes provide tailored learning pathways, enabling students to explore their strengths while being challenged and supported by passionate educators.

All of this is underpinned by Hillcrest’s strong Christian foundation. The College fosters a values-based culture where students are encouraged to lead with integrity, serve with humility, and grow in character. Every initiative at Hillcrest is designed to build confident, compassionate young people who are equipped to make a positive difference.

“Through these innovative programs, we are preparing students not just for exams, but for a lifetime of purpose-driven learning,” said Principal Jeff Davis. “We’re proud of the way our students rise to challenges, discover their unique strengths, and live out their faith in action.”

As Hillcrest continues to grow as a leader in Christian education, its commitment to innovation, excellence and care remains unwavering.
