Minister for Education Ben Carroll today announced the second round of funding to upgrade classrooms and build new facilities at independent schools across regional and metropolitan Victoria.

Thirteen schools will share just over $40 million to expand and modernise existing facilities or build new schools from the Building Fund for Non-Government Schools.

Heritage College in Narre Warren South will receive $3.6 million to construct four new classrooms, refurbish existing classrooms, install a lift and expand the school courtyard.

Victory Christian College will be allocated $6 million to help build the first stage of an Epsom campus. It will include an education centre with 11 classrooms, a food tech room, basketball court, a science lab and a flexible learning space.

Darul Ulum Academy in Mickleham will receive $3 million towards the construction of a middle school and a technology centre comprising of fifteen classrooms, science lab, library, art room, technology room, open space learning areas, tutorial rooms and specialist offices.

These are just some of the projects being delivered through the Victorian Government’s $450 million Building Fund for Non-Government Schools – which helps schools upgrade and expand their facilities, ensuring families have the best learning environments for their children.

Mr Carroll also opened Round 3 of the Building Fund for Non-Government Schools, with applications closing in February 2025.  Earlier this year, the Government announced $24.8 million to fund works at 11 independent schools.

Close to $17 billion has been invested to build new schools – delivering more than 2,200 school upgrades and supporting more than 26,000 jobs in construction and associated industries.

Details of the grants program can be found at schoolbuildings.vic.gov.au/building-fund-non-government-schools-independent.

“We are proudly supporting 13 more independent schools across Victoria to deliver projects and upgrades in this next round of grants,” Mr Carroll said.

“This new round of funding opening today will help kick off vital projects that will improve schools and create new learning opportunities for students in the education state.”
