Matthew Flinders Anglican College has been named a 5-Star Innovative School for 2023 by The Educator magazine for the second year running.

Flinders was one of the top 35 schools across Australia recognised in The Educator’s report for “shaping the future of education”.

Now in its ninth year, this report recognises the schools at the forefront of change and innovation.

The College was this year also named Australian Primary School of the Year (Non-Government) at the Australian Education Awards.

Located in Buderim on the Sunshine Coast, Flinders is a leading Queensland co-educational school providing a quality education for more than 1,400 students from Prep to Year 12.

The Educator said this year’s 5-Star Innovative Schools are “breaking the mould of traditional teaching and enabling their students to flourish with cutting-edge initiatives”.

Principal Stuart Meade said Flinders was proudly future-focused in its curriculum design and delivery, and committed to the students in its care.

“As a College community, we are striving to equip, empower and encourage our students to have a positive impact in the wider world,” Mr Meade said.

“Being named a ‘5-Star Innovative School’ recognises that we are innovative in our approach to teaching and learning, and want to do the best for our students,” he said.

“Flinders teachers are passionate about providing our bespoke curriculum programs in real world contexts, delivered in quality facilities with rich technology, to encourage students to ‘own’ the learning.

“This is how we boost student engagement through intrinsic motivation, and enable students to pursue academic excellence, enhance curiosity and develop an enterprising spirit.”
