Inspiring girls since 1901

For 120 years, Moreton Bay College has encouraged girls to be the best they can be. Our supportive learning environment inspires inquiring minds, integrity, initiative and genuine caring.

Moreton Bay College is an Early Years to Year 12 Uniting Church School for girls and consistently rates as one of Brisbane’s top performing schools. With a rich heritage, exceptional teachers, state-of-the-art facilities, an integrated pastoral care programme and extensive co-curricular opportunities, Moreton Bay College offers an outstanding student experience.

Established in 1901, by the pioneering and progressive Greene sisters, we remain steadfastly committed to their vision of a school where all girls are nurtured in a safe, Christian environment, and the growth of the whole child - academically, personally, socially and spiritually - is our mission.

The school has adopted four Values that are connected to the Christian tradition. These values are Engagement, Character, Care and Teamwork. These values are respected and upheld by the community, influence discussions and behaviours and guide the personal, moral and academic growth of our students.

Girls’ education is a specialised field, and our carefully chosen teaching staff tailor their classes specifically to the way girls learn, develop and communicate. This means that students are more engaged with their teacher and with the content, which leads to better academic outcomes.

An engaging curriculum, specially developed to inspire and unlock the potential of girls, builds confidence and pride their learning abilities, and the scope and diversity of our teaching programme develops girls that want to be at school and want to learn.

Whether our girls want to be astronauts, actors or accountants, they need to know that nothing can stand in their way and we send that message to our girls every single day. We strive to foster in each individual a healthy sense of self-worth through encouraging the girls to take intelligent risks and to advocate for themselves. By giving them the freedom to explore their interests across any field, we can develop confidence through cultivating their competence and allowing them to experience success.

Our curriculum is designed and tailored to provide a seamless transition for each girl, with the end goal that every student achieves her desired post-school destination.

Over 90% of graduates go on to further studies. To deliver these results, our academic programme draws on current educational, psychological, physiological and related fields of research.

Common core curriculum subjects are enhanced with subjects such as Religious Education, Design Technology, Languages and Enterprise Education and co-curriculars such as Programming, Debating or Duke of Edinburgh further develop the whole student.

MBC is proud to be an Authorised PYP (Primary Years Programme) IB World School as part of the International Baccalaureate programme.
