Aitken College is a Foundation to Year 12 co-educational Uniting Church independent school providing a quality education in a caring and supportive community, emphasising academic achievement, creativity, environmental responsibility and service. Set in an attractive rural setting, the College features Sports facilities, Chapel & Performing Arts centre, Science laboratories, Technology centre, Computer laboratories and farm area. The College is divided into four schools covering Prep-Year 2, Years 3-6, Years 7-9 and Years 10-12.
The academic program includes a strong emphasis in the early years on literacy and numeracy, core studies in English, Mathematics, Science, Humanities, Physical Education and Indonesian and an extensive elective program that includes Music, Drama, Art, Information Technology, Design & Technology and Commerce. Senior students undertake a wide range of VCE and VCAL programs with Careers education and support. In recent years about 90% of Year 12 graduates have been offered a tertiary education place. The Religion & Values Education program is undertaken by all students and is complemented by a weekly Chapel Service. Students can access welfare support, the learning centre for special needs and participate in a wide range of co-curricular activities including sport and performing arts.
The College features an extensive environmental program including its own water supply, extensive solar panels, wetlands and native gardens and has been highly rated as an environmentally sustainable school.
